Vietnam Border Crossings for Vietnam e-Visa Holders

Vietnam is one of the most popular tourist destinations today, thanks to its beautiful natural landscapes that consist of lush green mountains and scenic beaches. Of course, Vietnam is also home to some interesting historical sights and has some of the most delicious cuisines in the world.

There are many ways to travel to Vietnam. Although most tourists would prefer to fly directly to the country, there are others that would travel by land coming from the neighboring countries of Cambodia, Laos, and China. Regardless of how you enter Vietnam, it’s very important that you have a valid Vietnam visa, such as the e-Visa. Here’s how you can enter Vietnam border crossings using the Vietnam e-Visa.

Vietnam Border Crossings

There are many border locations all over Vietnam. You can enter the country by land, sea, and air, depending on where you intend to go to Vietnam and your planned itinerary. When entering Vietnam, one of the most important things you need to think of is the Vietnam visa, regardless of how you plan on entering the country.

One of the most common visas that foreign travelers would use in entering the country is the e-Visa. With this e-visa, you would be able to enter Vietnam in the following borders:

  1. International airports
  2. Land crossings
  3. Seaport (entering by boat or cruiseship)

Airports in Vietnam

The Vietnam e-Visa is accepted in all eight international airports in Vietnam. You can apply for the e-visa online by filling out the application form. Here’s the list of airports that accept the e-Visa:

  • Cam Ranh International Airport in Nha Trang city
  • Can Tho International Airport in Can Tho city
  • Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong city
  • Da Nang International Airport in Da Nang city
  • Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi city
  • Phu Bai International Airport in Hue city
  • Phu Quoc International Airport in Phu Quoc island
  • Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City

If you are flying to Vietnam soon and you will be passing in any of the airports mentioned above, you can apply for the e-Visa online and use it to enter Vietnam.

 Land Crossings in Vietnam

Foreign travelers who are backpacking in Southeast Asia will most likely enter Vietnam through land borders coming from the neighboring countries of China, Cambodia or Laos by bus. There are numerous land borders all over the country and the Vietnam e-Visa can be accepted at 16 different land borders:

If you are passing through Vietnam in any of these land borders, you can take advantage of the Vietnam e-Visa. Simply apply for it online and print the e-visa. Take it with you on your trip and present it at the immigration when passing through land borders.

Seaports in Vietnam

There are also a few seaports in Vietnam and those who plan on traveling to Vietnam by boat will most likely be passing here. Thankfully, the Vietnam eVisa can be accepted at some of the major seaports in Vietnam including the following:

For those who are entering Vietnam by boat or cruiseship, you can apply for an e-Visa that you will present at the immigration at the seaport in order to be allowed entry to the country.

Entering Vietnam from Nearby Countries

Vietnam shares border with Laos, Cambodia, and China. So if you’re traveling to Vietnam by land, you will most likely be passing at any of those borders that Vietnam shared with these three countries.

Traveling to Vietnam from Laos

If you came from Laos, you can do a border crossing towards Vietnam by passing at any of these land borders:

  • Tay Trang Landport (31 km from Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province, Vietnam)
  • Na Meo Landport (in Na Meo village, Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam)
  • Nam Cam Landport (in Nam Cam village, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, Vietnam)
  • Cau Treo Landport (in Kim Son village, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, Vietnam)
  • Cha Lo Landport (in Dan Hoa village, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province, Vietnam)
  • Lao Bao Landport (in Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, Vietnam)
  • Bo Y Landport (in Bo Y village, Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province, Vietnam)
  • La Lay Landport (A Ngo village, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province, Vietnam)

Traveling to Vietnam from Cambodia

If you are coming from Cambodia, you can your eVisa when passing at any of the border control checkpoints below:

Traveling to Vietnam from China

Although crossing Vietnam from China is not very common since most travellers will usually come from Southeast Asia, there are instances where you may need to pass through the border that Vietnam shares with China. Here are the borders:
